About Topo Tools

Topo Tools is a mobile application used by land surveyors to calculate coordinates, distances and orientations in the Romanian Stereo '70 and WGS84 system. It was created to increase the productivity of land surveyors and aspiring students by determining distances and orientations without using a calculator, navigate to specific coordinates using Google maps, overly the terrain and help identify reference points onsite.

Research

During research, I do my best to find out whatever information I can to back my work up. Experiencing the app myself I could tell that the app accomplished users needs but the navigation was ambiguous and required extra thinking in terms of what the next step is.

Analyzing the captured data I had available though Crashlytics I discovered where users got lost in the funnel and why they left the application. Another insight found was about the features hierarchy on the main screen. Data was showing that some of the features were not completely used or not used at all.

  • Ambiguous navigation
  • Unused features
  • Outdated design

Wiraframes

Based on the data I could gathered during my research and the exploration phase done with the help of my client I've found a way to minimize the amount of steps users needed to achieve their goals.
